What could you do with $80,000...

Well I guess I've been given this question before and I'm pretty sure I didn't win the grand prize. Instead I obtained a degree, enjoyed the college life to its utmost fullest, and now find myself without a job. How can that be? They all said, "You'll go to college, you'll get a great degree, and you'll be able to pay off those student loans as soon as you graduate."

Reality: I graduated at the beginning of the beautiful thing we are all calling the GREAT RECESSION. Hello! I didn't say this could happen this way. Who ok'd all of this "recession" talk and "unemployment rates rising" stuff? So instead of landing a terrific career that would pay off all of the debt I accumulated I have been relatively unemployed for over 3 months now. Wait, I take that back... Much longer. I graduated last June and worked as a server on a resort for a year until I decided to dig into the job search. Now I am knuckle deep, a few scratches and bruises, and still no job.

I know that we will all make it out of this soon. But will it be soon enough to rope in an income that will assist me in my education loan that is equivalent to a house loan... And in the mean time I will pick myself up off my chemical laden carpet floor and knock down every restaurant door within a 25 mile radius.

WE WILL PREVAIL!

$207 dollars later....

Our stomachs are full... OF MCDONALDS that is!!! Argh! Travis has been dying to use his Gift Card that he got from work when he left this summer. I am still wondering why they got him a McDonald's gift card. They used to always comment on the oh so FABULOUS lunches Travis got to take to work :-) Compliments of me of course! Ha ha! But seriously he did have some pretty good lunches.

Anyway, here we sit, watching Monday night football (well sorta), feeling hungover sick from McDonald's, with over $200 dollars of groceries in our refrigerator. Why? Because my pants don't fit! And because Travis's pants are beginning to fit. Most of the weight gain is contributed to the amount of stress we have been under since our move, but some of it is due to our pathetic mournful eating habits that are strictly a result of us wallowing in our lack of employment sorrows! So I have decided to hit the extreme old faithful diet program. SOUTH BEACH DIET.

Yes, yes, I said it... DIET! I hate the ideas of diets. But when you get to the point we have allowed ourselves to get to you really have to reset your mind and body so that you are eating better when it's all said and done. We eat super awesome healthy meals typically. But lately all of that sugar has grown lips and teeth and a tongue and does a darn good job of calling my name! And Travis is no exception. He has succumbed to the calls too.

And tomorrow morning the starvation commences! So we are going to walk hand in hand down the diet trail until we get so cranky from the lack of caffeine and sugar we begin trying to push one another off the path... Coping skills will definitely come into play in the upcoming weeks. So continue to think of us as you eat your fabulous meals and go to your fabulous jobs. Oh, and did we mention.... Be thankful for every pay check you get because there is someone out there in the world tonight just dreaming of the day that they can scrub a toilet or clean out a horse stall for a couple of bucks pay....

We'll keep you posted on our adventures as they arise.
